An NVQ (National Vocational Qualification) allows experienced workers to demonstrate the skills, knowledge and competence they have developed in the workplace and convert that experience into a nationally recognised qualification.
Unlike classroom-based qualifications, NVQs are assessed in the workplace and focus on the practical application of occupational competence. Candidates are assessed through workplace observation, evidence gathering, professional discussion and job knowledge questions while continuing to work in their normal operational environment.
For many CPCS card holders, achieving the relevant NVQ forms an important part of the progression route from the CPCS Red Trained Operator Card to the CPCS Blue Competent Operator Card.
